Highlights from Curtis:
As my collection grows I’ve started switching from print to digital (with the exception of a few books still in print). I feel it’s important to make that delineation in my highlights from now on:
- Batman #15 – (W) Tom King (A) Mitch Gerads – The Bat and Cat continue their night along the rooftops of Gotham as they attempt to decide on Catwoman’s fate.
Highlights from Sarah:
- Mighty Captain Marvel #1 – (W) Margaret Stohl (A) Ramon Rosanas – Real talk: I’m not at all sure about the direction Marvel is taking Carol Danvers right now. Nothing about her motivations or actions in the Civil War II storyline felt reflective of the Captain I have come to know through Kelly Sue Deconnick’s reintroduction. That being said, Stohl and Rosanas set up some interesting themes around PTSD, heroism, friendship, and self-defeat in MCM #0 that definitely caught my attention.
- Motor Girl #3 – (W/A) Terry Moore – In Motor Girl, Moore makes little green martians, invisible talking gorillas, and comically large casino goons seems just as normal as running a garage to avoid your emotions and hide from your family. There are wonderfully playful visual gags that carry the strong humorous tone, while allowing the characters space to have honest, empathetic relationships. Only three issues in and it already feels epic.
