Highlights from Curtis:

As my collection grows I’ve started switching from print to digital (with the exception of a few books still in print). I feel it’s important to make that delineation in my highlights from now on:

Print

  • Batman #19 – (W) Tom King (A) David Finch – Batman and Bane reverse roles as the Bat hides in Arkham, forcing Bane to fight his way through a slew of bad guys.

Digital

  • Wild Storm #2 – (W) Warren Ellis (A) Jon Davis-Hunt – Ellis’ reboot of the classic Wild Storm continues as various shadow agencies all prepare to go after the recently revealed Engineer…

Highlights from Sarah:

  • Black Panther: World of Wakanda #5 – (W) Roxane Gay, Ta-Nehisi Coates (A) Alitha Martinez – So wraps Roxane Gay’s compelling and touching run in the realm of Wakanda (not to mention her stint as the first black woman to write for Marvel Comics). Ayo and Aneka’s story, however, is only just beginning. Rebelling is easy, leading, however, well… As Gay herself said at her appearance at Seattle’s Town Hall earlier this month, we haven’t seen the last of the Midnight Angels.
  • Ms. Marvel #16 – (W) G. Willow Wilson (A) Takeshi Miyagawa – If I’m being honest, some of my Marvel favorites have been a slog to get through recently. Through it all, the one story that consistently brings my joy and leaves me inspired is that of Kamala Khan. Issue #16 is the middle installment of a 5-issue arc where the big bad is an online gaming troll gone very, very wrong. Equal parts surreal and all-too-real, Ms. Marvel never fails to entertain in deeply satisfying ways.
