Eatables – Grape Salad
Adapted from Pastry Affair
This recipe looks gross. Really gross. BUT! Yes there is a but. It tastes amazing! I came across this wonderful grape salad at a potluck. A friend brought this salad and forced me to try it. I was a little apprehensive because it doesn’t look too appealing. I tried it and it all went down in history. It was, as Penny would say, A-mauzzing. I have literally eaten three bowls (after I took the pictures of course).
It’s perfectly sweet and has the guise of seeming healthy, but is wrapped in tons of sugar. So it counts right? So maybe this isn’t the best recipe for your resolution, but it will make you feel so much happier!
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup sour cream
1/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 pounds seedless green grapes
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sliced almonds
In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese and sour cream until smooth. Mix in the sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract. Stir in the grapes until evenly coated. Mix in the toasted almonds. Serve chilled. Top with the extra brown sugar and almonds.
